Masquerade, Killjoy, Family Abolition.. All the good stuff!

Events this week to check out:

Join us TOMORROW for a night of masquerade, mystery, and magic as we host 3 poets (Risha Nicole, Riley Gable, Benjamin Rhodes) and an open mic. Hide your face and spill your guts!

Join us SATURDAY for a conversation with author, podcaster and musician Margaret Killjoy as she celebrates the release of her debut novel The Sapling Cage.

Family Abolition - monthly weekend reading group starts SUNDAY
(audiobook now available):

After we finished reading Michael Heinrich's Introduction to Capital (and developed a study guide Beyond Money, Commodities and the State!) we are going to read Family Abolition by M.E. O'Brien.
We'll meet on Sunday at 2pm to discuss part 1 of the book.
Bagels, coffee and tea provided!

We may think of 3 broad areas that reproduce capitalism: wage workers and private capitalist firms, private households/families that do unwaged social reproduction and  the capitalist state that upholds and mediates between the two forms. Heinrich's book on Capital dealt mostly with the first area and some of the third, but did not deal with the family. That's where Family Abolition comes in.

More info and exchange money for the book from Pluto Press here.

If you don't have money, you can find the PDF here.

Audiobook is available DRM free here.

If you don't have money, you can find the audiobook here.

Part 1 is about 50 pages of reading or 2 hours of listening.
Feel free to come if you don't finish the reading - you can catch up between monthly sessions.

And join us next week for more:
